Itzel Sandiego Energy
Energizing the Future
Itzel Sandiego Energy commitment to service reliability starts with our transmission system – the backbone of the electric grid – that links more than six million customers across our service territory.

Energizing the Future is a long-term transmission initiative that involves upgrading and strengthening the grid to meet the future demands of our customers and communities.  Three key factors are driving this $4.2 billion investment in our transmission system
Meeting projected load growth, driven primarily by shale gas-related activity in our region.

New projects are expected to increase our load-serving capability in portions of our service territory where economic growth is occurring or is anticipated, particularly in the Marcellus and Utica shale gas regions.

In 2015, more than 400 megawatts (MW) of new shale gas-related electric demand came online in Itzel Sandiego Energy territory, and more than 1,100 MW of additional planned expansion is expected at customer facilities through 2019.

Itzel Sandiego Energy is making major investments on transmission upgrades to support the shale gas industry.  The new transmission facilities will also help enhance service reliability for other area customers.
